Model 1817 Harpers Ferry Flintlock Artillery Musket
.69 caliber, 36" barrel length smooth bore. Markings on lockplate in front of hammer of eagle motif over "US." Markings on the rear of the lockplate in three lines of Harpers over Ferry over 1820. Heel of buttplate is marked "US." On top of barrel is marked "O" over inserted "P" over "66". Tang is marked "1820." Left side of barrel near side lock is marked "V" over "P" over eagle head. Cartouche marking on left side of stock in script inside of box. Walnut stock with case colored lock plate. The buttplate, triggerguard, trigger, hammer, frizzen, barrel and barrel bands were browned. Comes with a steel button-head ramrod.

This musket is in very good condition. The stock has minor scratches, nicks and dings. Small crack in front of lockplate. Markings are sharp and crisp on the lockplate. The cartouche is noticeable, but inspector initials are hard to make out. The lockplate has some pepper pitting with gray metal and remnants of case color. The buttplate, trigger, triggerguard, hammer, frizzen, barrel, and barrel bands all have minor peppered pitting to gray metal with a little brown to plum patina. Bore has some pitting, but can clean to better. Overall condition is very good.
