Model 1840 Nippes Conversion
.69 caliber, 42" barrel with US JH P in a sun burst. Lockplate marked Mill Creek PA 1843. Marked on the cover of the tape primer Edward Maynard Patent 1845. Engraved escutcheon inlaid in right side of stock near the buttplate. Walnut stock with three barrel bands.
Provenance: A.C. Daum
Barrel is smooth and a light patina with scattered staining. Lock is sharp and crisp and still retains some of the case coloring, just lightly faded. Stock has two readable cartouches; also has some nicks and dings. Overall an excellent example of this rare military arm.
