Model 1840 Springfield Converted to Percussion
.69 caliber, 42" round barrel. "V P" and eagle proofs at breech. Belgian-style conversion with nipple in the top of barrel. Lockplate marked Springfield and dated 1841. Eagle and U.S. forward of the hammer. Walnut stock.

Barrel has nice dark patina with some pitting around the percussion nipple and around the back section of breech and going forward to the first barrel band. Two of the barrel bands have been clean lightly; one has brown patina. Buttplate is deeply pitted and brown. Stock with some nicks and dings and very nice cartouche on the right flat.
