Royal Satsuma Porcelain Vase and Censer
Japanese, early 20th century. A hexagonal vase having gilt fish-form handles on each side of the narrow neck, decorated with gilt and polychrome enamel war and court scenes, and a censer with beast handles, beast finial to pierced and domed lid, polychrome enamel and gilt figural decorations, raised on three gilt beast and paw feet, and marked with Royal Satsuma cross on underside; ht. of vase 14.5 in., ht. of censer 13 in.
Hairlines to rim of vase, repair with glue residue visible on the exterior of rim. Gilt and enamel losses; a few chips, especially to fish handles.
