Slant-Lid Desk in Old Red Paint
American, 19th century. A pine desk in old red paint, having a rectangular top with a three-quarter gallery and a hinged slant-lid with a raised lip opening to a deep well with a fitted interior, above one false and two working long drawers, the faces scratch-beaded and fitted with mushroom pulls and brass escutcheons, all rising on tapered, quadrangular stiles; ht. 38.5, wd. 31.5, dp. 24.25 in.
Some minor surface wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use, including some scratches, stains, and nicks. Larger chips to gallery and to legs. Fitted interior may have had a drawer and another shelf at one time (no longer present). A few light shrinkage cracks. Retains interior lock mechanisms.
