Virginia Manufactory Second Model Flintlock Musket
.69 caliber, 44" barrel length, goose neck lockplate is marked in the center in front of hammer Virginia over Manufactory. Rear of lockplate is marked Richmond over "1809." The top of the barrel retains some of the county mark "OVISA." The buttplate, triggerguard, sidelock, middle and top barrel band are all marked "3." The first barrel band is marked "4." Walnut stock with three barrel bands; the top band is double band. The buttplate, triggerguard, trigger, lockplate, side lock, barrel and barrel bands are browned. Has steel button-head ramrod.

Walnut stock is in good shape; there is a crescent-shaped crack from the side lock to the upper tang. A couple of small cracks on each side of the butt stock. In between the second and third barrel bands, the stock shows use with the wood receding from the barrel. The barrel and the barrel bands have a brown patina that blends with light pitting at the beginning of the barrel by the breech. The lockplate, sidelock, hammer, frizzen, trigger, and triggerguard all have an untouched brown patina. The butt plate has a dark patina. The bore is good and can clean. Does have pitting. The markings are sharp and crisp. Overall condition is very good.
