American Rococo Carved Mahogany Half Tester Bed, c. 1850-1860, stamped "C. Lee, 2776," the shaped beaded tester on tapered cluster column posts, flanking an arched paneled headboard with a shell carved crest over relief fruit and nut carving, to shaped conforming rails, and a low arched foot board, H.- 110 in., W.- 66 in., D.- 75 1/2 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Cluster of veneer loss to right bottom leg, 5 inches, 2 inches and 2 inches. Veneer loss 1 inch to bottom right leg as well as 5 inch split to wood and 1 inch gouge. Scratches and discoloration throughout posts especially to top left of footboard. On left side 14 inch split, 6 inch scratch. On right side 15 ½ inch split to veneer 3 ½ inch and 1 inch sections of missing veneer. Headboard wood splitting 34 ½ inches and 24 inches. Significant wear from use to interior. Cluster of flea bite chips at right joint. Back left of canopy missing 2 square inch veneer. Splitting veneer throughout canopy. Left front joint separating and splintering. Right back of canopy lacking 3 inch triangle of veneer.
