French Empire Style Ormolu Mounted Marble Top Mahogany Sideboard, 19th c., the highly figured grey marble over two frieze drawers and setback double cupboard doors flanked by figural ormolu mounted tapered square pilasters, on a plinth base with block feet, H.- 40 in., W.- 56 7/8 in., D.- 21 in.
Cluster of chips to front fright of marble. 9” scratch to back right of marble. Surface scratches throughout. Front corners with loss to underside of marble. Veneer to right under marble separating. 5” veneer, 61/2”, 21/4”, and 51/2” residue to right side and 11” to the left. 1/8” chips at either side’s top corners. Frieze drawers appear to have 2” square repairs to veneers. Right drawers with split to interior. Left drawer with 41/2 possible ink stain. Doors with key. 13” split to veneer of left front door. Ormolu with oxidation consistent to age. 2” piece of marble missing from back right otherwise back exterior not accessible to examine.
