- Lot Description
French Louis XIII Style Carved Oak Fauteuil and Footstool, 19th c., the pierced crest over an upholstered back within twisted supports above a square seat within upholstered arms, with anthropomorphic terminals, on block and turned legs joined by twisted front and H-form stretchers, with a square upholstered footstool on like twisted legs and an H-form stretcher, Chair- H.- 51 1/4 in., W.- 25 in., D.- 25 1/2 in.
Condition
Condition consistent with age and use. The chair is observed with one finial broken with significant losses that is now only partially present. There are some expected dents and scratches to the carved surfaces. The base of the chair has a few minor chip losses at the corners. A very mild exposure to woodworm is noted. The footstool has a chip to one corner and similar dent and scratch wear as the chair. The upholstery has a large seam near the center of the seat and some consistent dust debris.
