French Provincial Carved Oak Farmhouse Table, late 19th c., the thick top over a wide skirt with a single side frieze drawer, and a deep end drawer, on tapered square legs, H.- 29 1/2 in., W.- 64 3/4 in., D.- 33 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Scattered light scuffs, scratches and dents are observed throughout. A diagonal, approximate ¼ inch wide, separation is noted across the length of the top. An approximate 12 inch crack is seen in the trim on the short side of the top. An approximate 24 inch gap is noted between the trim and the central board near one corner of the top. Another similar separation is noted between the trim and central board on the short side. Two 6 inch cracks are observed at the top of two legs. An approximate 12 inch crack is seen at the bottom of one leg. In the frieze drawer, dark discoloration and several holes are seen from a previous handle. A 2 inch gouge is seen at the top of a leg. An approximate 1 cm chip is noted in the bottom of the end drawer. Pinholes from wood beetle damage are seen intermittently throughout and heavy beetle damage is observed in the bottom of the end drawer. Several pea-size dents are noted in the top. A charming example.
