French Renaissance Style Carved Oak Cupboard, 17th c. and later, the stepped edge crown over two star carved cupboard doors with iron latches and strap hinges, separated by a carved stile with a relief date of "1627," over a star carved center cupboard door, flanked by wheel carved doors with like iron hardware, on rectangular block legs, H.- 66 in., W.- 66 in., D.- 20 5/8 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Scattered scratches, scuffs, and dents are noted throughout. Scattered spots of rust are seen intermittently throughout the iron hardware.
Fading and wear are observed to the top with a slight depression in the left side. In the upper left cupboard lock, the iron bar affixed to the frame is severed in the center and the surrounding wood is cracked. The upper right cupboard door sticks slightly and a pea-size spot of wear is observed below the left side of the door. Several deep pea-size dents are noted to the right of the door. The top hinge is separated from the bottom right cupboard door. Three pins are lacking from the adjacent strapwork. Moderate wear is observed below the bottom cupboards. An intriguing piece.
