French Three Piece Patinated Spelter and Marble Mantle Clock Set, c. 1880, the gilt incised clock with a large spelter figural group surmount of two fighting classical warriors, over a drum clock, time and strike, by Samuel Marti, the enamel dial painted with a retailer's name "Hominal Fils, Toulon," flanked by relief spelter lions' head columns, on a gilt incised stepped sloping base on splayed scrolled legs, together with a matching pair of five light spelter candelabra on like bases, Clock- H.- 27 in., W.- 18 1/2 in., D.- 9 1/2 in., Candelabra- H.- 29 1/2 in., Dia.- 12 in. Cluster of chips to front fright of marble. 9” scratch to back right of marble. Surface scratches throughout. Front corners with loss to underside of marble. Veneer to right under marble separating. 5” veneer, 61/2”, 21/4”, and 51/2” residue to right side and 11” to the left. 1/8” chips at either side’s top corners. Frieze drawers appear to have 2” square repairs to veneers. Right drawers with split to interior. Left drawer with 41/2 possible ink stain. Doors with key. 13” split to veneer of left front door. Ormolu with oxidation consistent to age. 2” piece of marble missing from back right otherwise back exterior not accessible to examine.
