George II Style Carved Elm Armchair, 19th c., the arched crest rail over a pierced shaped splat, open arms and a rush slip seat, the legs joined by box stretchers, H.- 39 in., W.- 24 1/2 in., D.- 18 1/2 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. An approximate 1/8 inch gap is noted along the top, left and right sides. Two flea-size dents are observed in the front edge. An approximate ½ inch repair is seen to the front right corner. The molding on the front right leg is detached but present. One drawer handle and keyhole are lacking. An approximate 1 inch chip is seen above the bottom drawer. A 6 inch piece of trim is lacking from the left side of the second drawer. A crack is seen above the back left foot. Scattered dents and wear are noted throughout, especially behind the handles and along the edges of the drawers. A pleasing example.
