Pair of Spanish Renaissance Style Carved Oak Cabinets, early 20th c., the stepped top over a frieze drawer with a lions' head handle, over a cupboard door, with a central relief portrait medallion of Cervantes upheld by figures, within leaf carved stiles over a bottom drawer with a lion carved handle, on block feet, H.- 49 in., W.- 26 1/4 in., D.- 17 7/8 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. An approximate 2 foot crack is seen in the top with light color wood fill. An approximate 6 inch crack is observed near the back right corner. Three approximate 10 inch cracks are observed on the top with darker color wood fill. Moderate scratches are noted throughout. An approximate 2 ½ inch gouge is observed in the top. Warping is noted to the top resulting in a slight separation between the top and the base at the corners. A dark semi-circular watermark is seen near the front edge. Two vertical filled cracks are seen in the right side. An approximate 2 foot hairline crack is noted in the right side. Several pea-size chips are observed between the drawers. The key is lacking. A nice example.
