Information provided by the Artist: I grew up on “modern art,” always attracted to expressive art. Influenced by the imagery I grew up on. Abstraction was everywhere in advertising, record covers, and in the magazines. Our house was just blocks away from the abstract mural by a not-then-famous artist, Wayne Thiebaud, and I studied every inch. In college I studied photography and art, classical and jazz music, and later owned an art gallery. My art is about history and musical rhythms, tributes, feelings and emotions in that moment, with references and tributes to all the particular artists and the art and music I’ve studied, learned, and admired for so many years. I think of my works as finding new ways of looking into the past and keeping history alive. They are my manuscripts, my relics.
