Information provided by the Artist: Santa Fe abstract artist Gary Denmark, working in the same vein of Charles Arnoldi and Terri Winters, uses color and line and form uninhibitedly. His paintings and works on paper echo the feelings of musician Jerry Garcia who said "The thing that propels me through music and art is the emotional reality of it. And as I get older, I surrender more of that. I trust my intuition". For Denmark, who, like so many other artists such as Kahlo, Pollack, and Rothko, has suffered from chronic depression, painting is more than therapy. It is a lifeline to his authentic self and anyone else awakened by his playful, spontaneous works.
