Information provided by the Artist: In Werfel’s paintings, clearly defined lines and stencils exist in tension with naturalistic gestures, which fade in and out of focus like distant memories in an ambiguous space. Her work is represented by Prince Street Gallery (New York City) and COL Gallery (San Francisco). Residencies include the American Academy in Rome, the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center in Italy, the Djerassi Foundation, and Yosemite National Park. .Werfel received her MFA at Columbia University, New York Studio School (Certificate) and Hamilton College (BA). She is Professor of Art Emerita at University of California Davis.
To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Upon payment of the invoice, winning bidders will receive more information about artwork pick up and shipping.
