Information provided by the Artist: Javier Toubes was born in 1947 in A Coruña, Spain. He holds an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and studied at the University of London Goldsmiths College. He taught in the art department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before serving as founding Artistic Director of the European Ceramics Work Centre in s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, from 1991 to 1999. He subsequently joined the faculty at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Toubes has exhibited widely across the United States, Europe, and Asia, and has been a member of the International Academy of Ceramics (Geneva, Switzerland) since 1986. His honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, a North Carolina Arts Council Artist Fellowship, and first prize at the Bienal Europea de Ceramica, Museu de Ceramica de Manises, Valencia, Spain.
To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Upon payment of the invoice, winning bidders will receive more information about artwork pick up and shipping.
