- Lot Description
2 Antique Quilts includes a c1870 Sun Flower Name Inscribed Quilt, most like for a church fundraiser. It measures 71x85". Comprise of 42 blocks, 11.5x11.5", set straight 6 by 7 with a 2" sawtooth border. It is Hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand ink inscribed, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and off white with black print shirting reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding, by hand. It is in poor condition with overall toning and spots, fading, edge wear, and fabric deterioration. While there is no date or geographic location, there are hundreds of names inscribed in calligraphy in the white areas of the quilt including center of each sunflower, each white petal of some flowers, and even many of the triangles sawtooth border. ALong with a c1880 Courthouse Steps Quilt measuring 82x83". Comrpised of 100 blocks, 8x8", set straight, 10 by 10. It is Hand pieced and hand quilted. There is a brown print reverse, no batting. The edge is finished with brown print fabric, by machine. It is in fair condition with several spots, discolorations, fabric deterioration, and edge wear. Great fabric library of prints from this time period. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $35 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance. We will gladly combine multiple lots for your convenience and economy. Each additional lot we can pack in the same box is $5-10 each.
