A three piece walking suit from the 1880s is featured in a matching tan color with brown embroidered decorative appliques on the skirt, fitted bodice, and jacket. The set is rather well preserved and features the distinctive nipped waist and slightly accentuated sleeves. The jacket features decorative brown cord embroidery on the collar, cuffs, and along the edges of the opening of the jacket. There are medium sized buttons covered in the same tan fabric as the jacket. Pleats at the bottom of the jacket on the back and along the shoulders of the sleeves. One hook and eye closure is at the neck of the jacket. Each item in this set is made from wool. Small holes on the back of the jacket, on the sleeves, under the collar, and along the torso. The silk lining is a mint green with small to medium sized holes, rips, toning, and discoloration. Fraying is seen along the button holes and neckline. The fitted bodice features a fitted waist and brown cord embroidery on the cuffs, shoulders, nape, and down the front. The sleeves are beginning to have the distinctive leg o' mutton sleeves of the 1890s. It is pleated at the torso and at the shoulders of the sleeves. The bodice is secured with hook and eye closures and there are flaps for the brown cord embroidery on the torso. Small holes on the back. The last piece included is the matching skirt with a vertical band of brown cord embroidery on the front and the back. It is ankle length with extra weight along the hem. Several spots, holes, and fraying. It uses hook and eye closures at the waist to stay secure with one connecting to the back of the bodice. The skirt has Measurements: Length: 42.5" and Waist: 13.5". Laid flat: Length: 16", Shoulders: 12", Bust: 17", Waist: 14", and Sleeves: 22". Also included is the jacket which has Laid flat: Length: 22.5", Shoulders: 13", Bust: 17", Waist: 14", and Sleeves: 24".
