- Lot Description
Antique 1886 Album Quilt from North Spring Hill, Bradford County, PA for Mrs S Quick. It measures 72 by 87 inches. It is comprised of 30 blocks, 13 by 13 inches, set straight, 5 by 6, with one inch white sashing and red cornerstones, and a one inch red and white pieced border. It is hand and machine pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied solid red fabric binding. Each block is different with flowers, leaves, figures, baskets, religious motifs in appliqué and hand embroidery. Each block is hand embroidered with a signature, one with initials. Many of the blocks are dated 1886 with the center block stating "This Quilt is presented to Mrs. Quick by the Friends of North Springhill Bradford County Pennsylvania 1886", and surrounded by the date August 26, 1886. Names include Regina Titus, Effie McLaud, Isola Smith, Grace Kennedy, Maggie Middaugh, Mary A Graham, and many more. Many unique designs including a hand, foot, tomatoes, Doves and many more. The quilt is in good condition with some small spots, and minor bleeding in the red thread. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $30 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance. We will gladly combine multiple lots for your convenience and economy. Each additional lot we can pack in the same box is $5-10 each.
