Thomas Berger Johnson (1890-1968)
An untitled view of a Midwestern town. (1928)
A fine example signed lower right and dated 1928. Works by Nebraska artist Thomas Berger Johnson are very scarce, especially as large as this painting. Johnson often chose compositions that served to document the small towns of the Mid-west. This view of small simple homes in a village setting below an elevated trestle may have been a settlement of workers employed in an industry related to the railroad.
Canvas measures 30.25 x 36 inches. Frame measures 36.5 x 42.5 inches.
Very good condition noting a repair verso.
