- Lot Description
An Elegant Antique Black Forest Carved Wood Wall Mirror, late 19th century. Drawing strong stylistic inspiration from the Baroque and Rococo periods, this unusual frame is pierce-carved from lindenwood or walnut with a rich, dark finish. The central oval mirror glass is dramatically framed by an asymmetric, full-figured winged cherub or putto draped across the left side. The finely sculpted figure holds a flaming torch aloft in his left hand, while his right arm rests thoughtfully against his head. The surrounding border is decorated with deeply undercut, scrolling acanthus leaves, openwork flourishes, and blooming rose blossoms. Unsigned. Good antique condition overall. The hand-carved wood frame remains structurally sound with a deep, warm dark patina. Note: There is a small, superficial chip to the tip of the upper wing feathers (see detail photos). No other major losses to the delicate rose petals or torch flames detected. The inset oval glass mirror plate shows light, minor age-appropriate surface dust and faint silvering degradation consistent with age, but no major cracks or structural damage.

14) SHIPPING AND PICK-UP
All shipping, packaging, transportation, insurance, taxes, duties, and related fees are the sole responsibility of the Buyer. Please request shipping quotes from your chosen shipper before bidding.
Pick up is available the week following an auction.
Hours: Tuesday - Friday 11 am - 4:30pm and Saturday 11am - 3pm.We have limited in-house shipping services and only ship within the continental US. We ship via USPS insured for small, uncomplicated, non-fragile items valued at less than $500.
IF in-house shipping is available for a lot, we will include the cost of shipping and handling in the item description. Insurance is mandatory, based on the invoice price,and the cost of shippng/handling/ insurance will be added to your invoice.
Buyers may use any shipper of their choice.
