Farland CollectionMAO (FELDMAN/SCHELLMANN II.98) Color screenprint, 1972, on Beckett High White paper, signed in blue ballpoint pen and stamp-numbered 137/250 verso, printed by Styria Studio, Inc., New York, co-published by Castelli Graphics and Multiples, Inc., New York, with the artist's copyright stamp and the printer's stamp verso, the full sheet, framed. Sheet 36 x 36 inches (91.4 x 91.4 cm) Frame 36 1/8 x 36 1/8 inches (91.7 x 91. 7 cm) Provenance: Mr. and Mrs. Leo and Evelyn D. Farland, New York Thence by descent to the estateSome rippling mostly visible in raking light, pale matstain and offsetting and foxing verso, some rubbing and mostly faint creases and small cracks in the ink most discernible in raking light, an area of old oil paint inpainting at corner of left eye (Mao's right) with associated staining verso, very skillful inpainting of small areas of missing ink in the central image area caused by removal from previous attachment to glazing, faint pressure mark line along sheet edges 1/16 to 1/8 inch into the sheet from frame rabbet, a 1/2 inch skillfully restored tear at center right sheet edge, framed with glass.
