Provenance: Frances Evelyn "Daisy" Greville, Countess of Warwick
Daisy, Countess of Warwick (1861–1938) was born Frances Evelyn Maynard, Daisy became one of the most flamboyant and talked-about figures of late Victorian and Edwardian high society. Married to the wealthy Earl of Warwick, she was known not only for her lavish lifestyle and progressive politics, but also for her string of high-profile affairs. Most famously, she was the mistress of Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), whose affection for Daisy endured for years despite his many other liaisons. Her romantic entanglements, which included politicians and aristocrats, scandalized polite society and cemented her reputation as both a social rebel and a captivating beauty.
This silver diary was possibly a gift from Edward, Prince of Wales during their long affair that lasted from 1886 until 1898 when she was largely replaced in his life by Alice Keppel.
