A photocopy of a note affixed to the backing board reads: This is a quick drawing made at the dinner-table, of a horse, by the late Sir Alfred Munnings which he gave to my husband - the Poet Trevor Blakemore at a party given by Louis Gautier in his Chelsea studio in 1952 - Ann Blakemore
