One of 250 copies, this copy 28, signed by the artist in pencil on the colophon leaf. Publisher's laced vellum, with a suite housed in a matching vellum-backed chemise, the prints within in a salmon-colored paper folder; the whole housed in a cloth slipcase, likely original. 7 7/8 x 5 1/8 inches (20 x 13 cm); [vi], 211, [1] pp. including half-title and title; illustrated throughout with 52 woodcuts and 4 illustrated initials by Maillol printed in bistre ink; the chemise contains a suite of approximately 57 woodcut illustrations, including 34 uncleared early states of the cuts, almost entirely without the foxing that often afflicts this charming work. Generally, minor wear to the slipcase; internally, a fresh copy, except for a few spots of foxing on one or two plates in the suite.
