Two volumes, full dark green levant morocco bound by Ramage with elaborate gilt decorations a la dentelle and turn-ins. 20 x 14 inches (51 x 36 cm); 45 engravings, most after J.M.W. Turner; including large pedigrees with arms of the principal families, some finished by hand. Wear and some scuffs to spines and joints, fading and rubbing to green morocco boards, edgewear, toning and scattered foxing to text, the plates overall in sound condition.
A well-bound copy of Whitaker's history and genealogy of the Richmondshire region of North Yorkshire, with attractive plates and pedigrees. The book is exceedingly rare in this large-page edition, which is made especially desirable by the presence of the Turner plates in India proof.
