A sharply detailed bright and pleasing Noe-2 Massachusetts Pine Tree Silver Shilling weighs 61.41 grns. This Shilling and has lovely natural silvery-gray color with underlying significant shimmering mint luster. There is just a trace of faint cabinet friction on the highest points. This major Pine Tree Shilling design type is well centered on both its face and back, with most of the legends present being well defined and clear. Some of the outermost peripheral letter tops extend beyond the flan as is typical for the type. The Noe-2 Pine Tree Shilling variety was struck from hand-engraved dies. Therefore it is typically struck displaying a weak defined Pine Tree, as is also exhibited on this piece. Its holder states repaired, XF detail, though it appears perfectly natural to this cataloger. Overall, this coin appears superior in overall strike to most seen, displaying hints of iridescent luster with natural golden overtones and presents significant eye appeal. A high quality specimen of the very distinctive Noe-2 variety which should receive serious consideration from collectors.
