This Bound Volume contains the run of New Jersey Provincial Official Acts covering the extensive historic Colonial Laws dating from 1702 (Queen Anne period) to 1776 (Acts of the last Royal Governor, William Franklin). It is a very nice rare original complete bound volume, being fully titled:
"Acts of General Assembly of the Province of New Jersey, from the Surrender of the Government to Queen Anne, on the 17th Day of April in the Year of our Lord 1702, to the 14th Day of January 1776. To which is annexed, The Ordinance for regulating and establishing the Fees of the Court of Chancery of the Said Province. With Three Alphabetical Tables, and an Index. Compiled and Published under the Appointment of the General Assembly, and compared with the Original Acts, by Samuel Allinson. Burlington: Printed by Isaac Collins, Printed to the King, for . MDCCLXXVI."
This exacting compilation covers the Laws of New Jersey made during the extremely early Colonial period from 1702 through 1776. The volume measures 13.5" x 9" Folio, containing 493 pages, plus an Appendix, Tables, and Index, complete. This period printed volume provides firsthand original insight into the earliest years of the Royal and Provincial rule of law in the the Province of New Jersey. This book of Acts and Laws is an important historical document printed in 1776, recording the basis of Colonial New Jersey's history. It is professionally rebound, preserved with later hard covers. Interior pages are complete, being in very nice crisp condition with some minor expected even age tone. The prior owner's name "Thomas Dudley's" written in period ink on the frontis page, a later owner's name in blue pen "Scott" seen at bottom.
