Description:
Beulah Barnes Weaver (DC, 1882-1957), Untitled Still Life, Oil on Canvas , unsigned, depicting a cubist style still life on a table, in a painted wood frame. Frame size: 29 1/4 in. x 34 1/4 in. Provenance: given by the artist's son, Woodruff Weaver, to the consignor's grandparents and by descent to her.
Beulah Barnes Weaver, born in 1882 in Washington, DC, was a painter, sculptor, and teacher. She trained at the Art Students League in New York and the Corcoran Museum School in her hometown, as well as with the Italian Peppino Gino Mangravite who made his career in the United States, and the German emigre Karl Knaths. Beulah Weaver was a member of the Society of Washington Artists. She worked for three decades as art director and teacher at the Madeira School in Greenway, Virginia. Weaver also exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Cochran Gallery, among many others. (Worthpoint.com)
