Property from The Christopher P. H. Murphy (Sr.) Family Estate Collection, Savannah, GA
Description:
Christopher Murphy Jr. (Savannah, 1902-1973), Three Original Etchings and One Restrike, comprising two etchings of Bradley Point with hens and palm trees, one print signed lower right and pencil signed lower right on mat (some losses to edges of the mat of signed work); rural scene with house and field with hens, signed upper left corner; night scene with full moon and foliage frame, unsigned, restrike; all unframed. Paper size of the largest: 10 3/8 in. x 12 1/4 in.
Provenance: descended from the artist to the Christopher P.H. Murphy family collection.
Christopher Murphy Jr. was a notable 20th century Savannah, Georgia artist. Murphy's artistic education started early as both of his parents were respected Savannah artists, and continued with formal training at the Art Students League. His superior technical skills allowed him to work in a variety of mediums and subject matter and he is best known for his city and landscape scenes of his home town Savannah. He was an active member of the Savannah Art Club and taught art classes around town.
During his career his work was exhibited at the National Academy of Design, Art Institute of Chicago, New York Watercolor Club, American Watercolor Society, Sesquicentennial Exposition in Philadelphia, Whitney Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Southern Art League. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Morris Museum and the Telfair as well as in various private collections.Measurements: Height: by sight of the largest 6 in. x Width: 8 in.
Condition:
Overall good condition, toning, fading and foxing to paper, some tears and creases to mat. See description for details.

Available payment options
PAYMENTS. Payments are expected within 7 calendar days of receiving your invoice. You will pay us the total purchase price for a lot by credit card (UP TO $5,000), cash (US currency not to exceed $10,000 in a single or multiple related payments), check, or wire transfer, before the property can be removed. Everard Auctions and Appraisals requires payment by wire transfer, check, ACH or cash (up to $10,000) for jewelry, watches and precious metals for all New and/or International buyers. You must quote your invoice number when making a payment. A Convenience Fee of approximately 3% will be applied to all US credit card payments, and non US credit cards approximately 4%. No fee will be levied if payment is made by Cash or Check. Please note a flat $15 fee for wire transfers should be included in the amount wired. For all payments made by check, we reserve the right to hold the merchandise for 7 Business days or until cleared or certified funds are provided. The purchaser will be charged $35.00 for each check returned for insufficient funds. Additionally, all payments made after 30 days will be subject to a 1.5% Late Payment Fee which will continue to accrue and compound per each additional 30 day period.
