Property of a Private Collector, Savannah, GA
Description:
John Hamilton (Irish/Dublin, early 18th C) Two Handled Cup with Cover, 18th C, cup c. 1708-09 with later cover c. 1730, marked on underside 'H.I.' with 1708/09 date mark, and partial Harp mark and inscribed '41:1', the cover hallmarked with Dublin city marks on inner rim. 57.46 troy ounces.
Illustrated in Tania Sammons, The Story of Silver in Savannah (Exhibition Catalogue), published by Telfair Museums, 2010, Pg. 106, listed as from the collection of L.F. "Sonny" Kessler to current consignor.Measurements: Height: 12 1/2 in. x Width: 11 1/2 in. x Depth: 7 in.
Condition:
Good condition, general light surface wear, two 5/8 in. cracks in top rim of cup, and one in outer rim of cover, minor dents to inner rim of cover.
