BID ON THE-SALEROOM
An early George III small silver bowl of plain baluster form to a skirted base and having a simple line border to the everted rim. Hallmarked London 1772 with maker's mark 'WS' or 'SM'. Height measures 3 1/8 inches (8 cm), weight 3.53 ozt (110 grams).
The bowl displays general wear including surface scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Many small dints and bumps are visible, especially around the lower body. Evidence of engraving removal as there is a let in oval panel to one side. The hallmarks are clear and legible, some distortion around edges of maker's mark.
