The images features a moment from the British campaign in Egypt in 1882 was a significant military intervention aimed at securing British interests in the Suez Canal, a crucial trade route to India and the Far East. William Heysham Overend (1851 ? 1898) was a British marine artist and book illustrator. Beginning as a painter, Overend moved into illustration. His connection with the Illustrated London News began in 1875 when he illustrated the Sir George Nares Arctic expedition. For the next decade at least, he was one of the most prominent illustrators, alongside with Richard Caton Woodville. Overend also illustrated articles in The English Illustrated Magazine, Good Words, The Rambler, The Pall Mall Magazine, The Illustrated Naval and Military Magazine, The Graphic, The Magazine of Art, The Leisure Hour, London Society, St. Nicholas, and The Penny Illustrated Paper. 20*26.25/ 11.75*18.25 in
