Provenance: Rev. and Mrs. J. Milton Hinkle (laid in calling card); Mrs. Ed Scharff, Iowa (ownership inscription to front free endpaper); Mabel Blackstone (ownership inscription).
An excellent first edition autobiography of Amanda Smith (1837-1915), a Black woman born into enslavement who became a Methodist Preacher, and notably one of the first Black female missionaries in America, evangelizing in India, Liberia, and other areas of West Africa.
An insightful reflection on her life as a Black woman.
