34-star printed cotton parade flag. ca 1861-1863. 6 x 5 in.
34 printed stars configured in horizontal rows 5-6-6-6-6-5 pattern. The irregularly shaped stars convey a charming home-made and patriotic quality.
The 34th star pattern became the official flag of the United States when Kansas was admitted to the Union in January 1861, the final state admitted before the outbreak of the Civil War.
A wonderful patriotic display piece.
