  Half plate seated portrait ambrotype. N.p., 1860s. Full leatherette case. Some tinting to cheeks. 

   

  A striking portrait of a Union brigadier general, based on his shoulder boards. He is seen in full uniform, holding a sword in his right hand. Underneath his left arm is a Star of David, most likely identifying this man as Jewish.
