TINTYPE PORTRAIT OF A CIVIL WAR SOLDIER, POSSIBLY OF NATIVE AMERICAN DESCENT
American, 1861–65. Sixth plate. Tintype housed in full leatherette case.
Cased tintype, three-quarter-length studio portrait of a young Union enlisted man seated in uniform, wearing a forage cap fitted with a gilt infantry hunting-horn device and a nine-button fatigue blouse; cheeks lightly hand-tinted.
