Two-piece Virginia belt buckle. Cast brass plate, die-stamped brass tongue disc. 3 3/8 x 2 1/16 in. Mullinax 383.
An unusual 2-piece Virginia wreath belt buckle that bears diagonal stripes on the belt loops. Featuring the Virginia state seal with the motto "Sic Semper Tyrannis," with the state name omitted. It may be a Confederate recast copy of an earlier pre-war Virginia militia buckle, popular in the 1850s. It may also be a post-war cast for a Virginia Militia or VMI.
