Oil on canvas

Visible 18 in. x 25 7/8 in., framed to 20 3/16 in. x 27 15/16 in.
A painting of a rooster. It crows in front of five sunflowers with the full moon in the background. In front of the rooster is a table that features a lit candle, giving the orange glow surrounding the rooster. The title reveals the rooster's fate, but the reverence for the sacrifice is undeniable.
Iglesias, from Santiago de Cuba, attended the José Joaquín Tejada Provincial Arts School at 14 years old, receiving a degree in drawing and engraving. While in school, the artists Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Fidelio Ponce de León became his inspiration, which influence through in Iglesias's artwork today.
