Guillermo Fernando López Junqué, known as "Chinolope" (Cuban, 1932-2021)
Untitled
Serigraph
Signed to lower right
Numbered 58/75 to lower left
121 x 17 1/2 in., framed and matted to 30 x 26 1/2 in.
A striking serigraph of an older man. The left side of his face is shown in his profile, yet it appears as if he's staring downcast rather than out, perhaps adding a tinge of sadness to his eyes.
Chinolope was a Cuban-Chinese artist and photographer, taking photos while traveling back and forth between New York and Cuba. While he wrote books and directed micro-documentaries in addition to taking photos, his most famous works are a silver print of Fidel Castro that sold at Cambi Auction House in Milan and a serigraph of Che Guevara that's housed at Moises Valdes Gallery.
