Outdoor portrait ambrotype. N.p., mid-19th century. Approx. 4 3/4 x 6 1/2 in., housed in 10 1/16 x 11 7/16 in. hanging frame. Tinting to woman's neck and bird's plume. Likely European (British).
A wonderful, rare photograph showing an elderly couple outside with a cockatoo in the center. The woman is sitting in a carriage, of which the man is holding onto a steering mechanism connected to the front axle. The cockatoo is perched on the carriage in front of the woman; it features a yellowish-green plume that has been colored in by hand.
