Full-length albumen CDV seated portrait of Fred G. Berger, Jr. in costume with his pug. Jackson, Michigan: H.A. Seymour, [1870s]. Photographer's illustrated imprint to verso alongside modern pencil identification.
A charming portrait of Fred G. Berger, Jr. and his adorable pug is fully captured in sharp contrast. Berger wears a large hat and a sharp outfit with embroidered details while posed before a backdrop of lush jungle plants.
Berger was the son of noted saxophonist Esther "Etta" Morgan and Fred G. Berger, Sr. (1852-1920), who was a member, along with his siblings, of the Berger Family of performing musicians that toured during the 1860s, including under the moniker the "Berger Family of Swiss Bell Ringers."
