Contemporary or near-contemporary wood frame
A handsome portrait of a dark-haired French officer. He is seen wearing a navy blue coat with a high red collar and white cravat. Going down the front of his coat are buttons with anchors on them, perhaps indicating that this man was in the Navy. Additionally, judging by his epaulettes, he would have most likely been a captain.
