Contemporary or near-contemporary wood frame
A handsome portrait of a captain of infantry from the French First Empire's Imperial Guard (see Bertrand Malvaux). His epaulettes confirm his rank, and what appears to be a Legion of Honour medal can be seen right above his posed hand in his waistcoat.
