Full-length albumen CDV studio view of Pawnee Warriors. [Fremont, Nebraska?]: [A.C Hull?], circa 1870. Modern pencil inscription to mount verso “Attributed to A.C. Hull, Fremont Nebraska/ Pawnee Warriors.”
A full-length view of Pawnee Warriors, with bows resting in their arms. Looking directly at the photographer’s lens, they are dressed in long tunics thrown over their shoulders, with long pants and moccasins. Small braids are seen at the nape of their necks, while one wears his hair mid-length. The warrior standing has his hair shaved on the sides in a mohawk fashion. This photo was likely taken in Fremont, Nebraska, where photographer Arundel C. Hull documented most of his subjects.
Arundel C. Hull (1846-1908) began his photographic career in Minnesota but quickly began documenting scenes throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah, capturing portraits of the Native American nations throughout the states. (Mautz 304)
