Door hatch from a B-24 Liberator airplane. Approx. 33 in. x 42 in. x 4 in. Signed by multiple airmen from various bomber groups and divisions.
A collection of signature form men who served in different capacities during World War II. Pilots, engineers, and gunners are all represented. Although their service may have varied, all appear to have some connection to the iconic WWII American bomber.
Developed in 1939, the B-24 Liberator was a long-range heavy bomber known for its impressive speed and substantial bomb load capacity. It served in every theater of World War II and was used extensively by the U.S. Army Air Forces in bombing missions over Europe and around the Pacific, as well as serving in anti-submarine patrols over the Atlantic. With many use cases, it's no wonder that more than 18,000 were produced, making it the most produced American aircraft of the war.
