Montblanc Writers Edition 2011 Carlo Collodi fountain pen. Gold plating and resin, with 18-karat gold nib. 2011. Number 8,179/12,000. Approx. L. 5 1/2 in.
A playful yet captivating fountain pen dedicated to Italian children's author Carlo Collodi, famous for his fairy tale The Adventures of Pinocchio (1883). While the body of this pen may reflect plain black resin with simple gold lines, the cap is where this pen shines. Right of the clip is Pinocchio, standing above the blue fairy brandishing her wand. Next to them appear to be the sly fox and cat above the whale Pinocchio is swallowed by. On the nib is the face of a cricket, a nod to the creature who attempts to teach Pinocchio the perils of disobedience.
