This vibrant colored pencil drawing on paper depicts a bucking bronco and rider in dynamic, angular forms. The powerful orange horse and the rider in red, purple, and yellow stand against a subtly textured blue and pink background. Signed in the lower right. Unframed.
Ed Mell developed an early interest in automobiles, which influenced his later work. He studied graphic arts at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, subsequently beginning his career as an art director for Kenyon and Echardt, a large advertising agency in New York.
